The site

After hand-coding a website, you’ll really appreciate web standards. The CMS started off as a little holiday project to learn PHP, but I ended up spending nearly a week fine tuning it; the whole blog and database system for storing, tagging, and fetching the articles was done from scratch. The HTML is mostly semantic (a few very minor odds and ends need to be cleared up), and the CSS works as far as I can tell in Firefox, Konqueror, and Opera. I will be upgrading as soon as possible to use some of the neat CSS3 features; I plan to use the site to test all the bleeding-edge stuff (I have started fiddling with the PHP6 code already). The MathML is also an interesting experiment; it is fantastic stuff, but does rather depend on more adoption by user agents than has actually happened.
